Carving a Concave Fan

For the secretary desk I am building, I needed to carve two fans to go in the top section of the upper case.  These fans start out as a solid carving block and the concave profile is carved into them.  After the profile is established, the fan can be laid out and carved.  This was my first time carving in general and I found this fan to be relatively easy and straight forward to carve.  I think they add a really nice element to the overall secretary desk.
