My Guitar and a New Log

I’m back from a few weeks of traveling. I was in the UK at the start of the month to build a custom guitar and to attend Makers Central. When I got back, it was off to Weekend with Wood in Des Moines.

Boxes by Rev. Marx

The sides are sapele. The tops and bottoms are maple. The corners are mitered with ebony splines. The top slides open like a pencil box, and has a laser engraved design. Both boxes were finished with shellac and paste wax.

There is a build article on my blog at https://mrxdesigns.blogspot.com/2018/10/splined-mitered-tarot-box-v10.html

it’s 8 1/5″ tall, 7″ wide and 432 pieces of maple & purple heart.

Ping Pong Table by Darrick

I was commissioned by a production company in St. Louis who are renovating part of their office space to build a custom ping pong table. This is made from walnut plywood with white oak trim and walnut accents, a solid walnut and white oak chevron pattern in the center of the table, sitting on a solid walnut base with white oak accents. I also made a couple custom paddles with walnut handles to go with it. You can find more of my work on instagram @dhbuilds
The hardwood is all locally sourced and came from Lumber Logs LLC in St. Louis and the walnut plywood came from St. Charles Hardwoods, Inc.
