Reclaimed Floating Shelves

My wife has been asking me to make a set of floating shelves for our son’s nursery for a while now.  I’ve had a number of reclaimed barn studs for a while just waiting for a project.  The board I used for this project was a rough sawn red oak 2×4 that was almost 6′ long.  It had an angled half lap on one end so this was probably from a wall that intersected with a roof rafter, such as a gable end.  The finished shelves are 35″ long and mount to the wall with a french cleat.
