Every so often, my friend Jim and I venture into his family’s forest to search for distressed trees that could be turned into lumber.

Hey Matt….started following you a few weeks ago on YouTube….AWESOME STUFF!! I am new to woodworking myself but am really intrigued by the thought of milling my own wood….i have recently purched a home with plenty of property and trees…i just am not sure if they are good for using…..mostly Pecan And i think maybe white oak….learning to identify them as well. FYI…I’m in southern Texas. Anyway, keep up the awesome work and look forward to more of your vids.
Thank you Steve! Pecan and white oak are both really dense woods. They would make excellent lumber!
