Making Shelf Brackets that can hold way more weight than I need them to

Today, I have a quick organization project.

These are Donavan’s planks and pumpjacks, which I will be storing for him in the barn.

I’m planning to hang them up here off of these posts. I’m thinking I’ll make three brackets that I can hang up towards the trusses, then I can put those planks up there with the forklift. That way they have a home, and they are out of the way.

I have this piece of steel which I will use for the mounting plate of the brackets.

Then I have these 2×2 angles which I can use for the braces and shelf pieces.

I’ll get everything cut to size and prepared for assembly.

Drill some holes into the mounting plates.

After all of the pieces have been prepared, I’ll get them into clamps and start welding!

I added some stops to the shelf part of the bracket, and now I have three (very heavy) brackets.

Gave them a coat of paint, and now installing them on the posts.

Then I can load them up with Donavan’s equipment! These are the types of projects I enjoy the most: low effort and high payoff.

Hopefully you enjoyed this quick welding project. Thank you as always for joining, I greatly appreciate it! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave me a comment. As always, I’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have. And until next time, happy woodworking!
