Blanket Chest by Peter

50 years or so ago I spent 10 years working as an antique picker. I learned woodworking by repairing some of the furniture I found. Now, in my late 70’s, I am building things based on memories of what has passed through my hands so many years ago. My latest project is a cherry and curly maple blanket box in the (Ontario) German tradition. Hand dovetailed carcass, drawers and bracket feet. This is my first attempt at mitred dovetails (on the feet). It feels good to build things that I know will last in the same spirit that our ancestors worked.

Humidors by Brian

They are made with black walnut, trimmed with hard maple and lined with cedar. The finish is sanding sealer, two coats of gloss poly and two or three coats of satin poly.

Coffee Table by Stu

Upcycled a metal frame with a broken mirror top adding a larger surface area. Used black and white wenge, a tragedy with my router resulted in the inner circle of epoxy. Since it was a coffee table the epoxy is inset with coffee beans.

Writing Desk by Nick

It’s a walnut writing desk with custom brass inlay, featuring tapered legs, an angled edge table top and a deep shadow line. It’s finished in Osmo PolyX oil.
