Cedar Table by Matthew

Here is a cedar table I made last year for a Green Egg Grill.  I sourced the slab from a local saw mill,  all of the dimensional lumber I milled from rough sawn stock.   I laminated the leg blanks and I also had to cut the slab in half to add some width to it.  I decided to do mortise and tenon joinery for the added strength to support the weight of the grill.  This was my first experience cutting mortises and the table had 16 of them total.   I finished it with general finishes outdoor oil.   I was very pleased with how it turned out and the customer was too!

Bed with Blossom Inlay by Sean

It was inspired by the Chinese furniture my wife and I saw when we were adopting our daughter 2 years ago.  It is made from Sapele with an oil finish.  The foot board and headboard have cherry blossom inlay consisting of Ebony, Wenge, Walnut, Pink Ivory, Redheart, and tinted epoxy.  Each piece of the inlay was cut out by hand and set using a router and a 1/16″ straight bit.  It took about 90 hours to create the inlay in both the foot and headboard.

Pallet Wood Bowl by Scott

Almost 4 months ago I got my first lathe and have been having a blast. Previously I have not seen any of the Pallet Challenge videos featuring a turned project so I came up with this idea.
It turned out better than I expected!

Four Drawer Silver Chest by Mark

I just finished this local walnut 4-drawer silver chest (attached pictures) last night and I’m pleased with the way it came out. Starting with the rough lumber, it took me a year to build and I had to learn on the fly how to build a chest/case with drawer supports that allow for seasonal expansion as well as how to make hand cut dovetails (in the drawers) look good.  It’s finished with Danish oil and wax.  I particularly like the way the crotchwood veneer that I made looks on the drawer fronts.

Walnut Slab Table by Phillip

I included some pictures of a recent project I completed. It is all made of firewood that was rescued. The walnut slab on top was too gorgeous to cut up into other small projects. The defects highlighted the overall reclaimed idea while still playing into the modern look too. I hope you like it.

  1. Those are some really nice viewer projects Matt, that grill table seems like something I will tackle in the future ( when my tools will be making dust instead of collecting it ) I hope that you and April are having some fun and it’s not just all work…. Also, something a little off topic……. I don’t know if you ever thought about a channel trailer for your YouTube channel, but if you ever did decide to do one I had an idea…. Picture the video cutting back and forth ( to the beat of the music ) between clips of you working on various things and ending with a shot of you standing in your shop facing the camera. Now for the music which is what pulls it all together, my thought was that you could use the riff from My Sharona and time it so that at the point in which “My Sharona” would be sung it syncs up with the shot of you facing the camera, you would then replace “My Sharona” with your name “Matt Cremona” and have it sung in the same way, in the same tone as in the song…… I don’t know anything about using music, so if you ever did do something like this, make sure you check if you need a license or if it’s public domain, and whatever usage rules an restrictions might apply………Anyway, I hope I’m not being too annoying sharing some o f the stuff that pops into my head.

    1. Thanks Fred! It’s been a fun week working with April. We accomplished quite a bit. There will be quite a few videos coming out in the next few months with us both. Interesting idea for a trailer. Making one is still on my list of things to do. Keep the ideas coming 🙂

  2. I think you’ll be really happy with the POR15. Used it on the frame and some other parts for a 1954 Chevy truck project. Six years later there are no rock chips, scratches or signs of wear. Sticks like glue and is darn hard to get off your skin. Sawmill is looking awesome!
