This week I finished up the linkage for the sawhead lift. I installed the new idle sprockets and mounts onto the mill and reinstalled the roller chain. In the shop, I finalized the part layout for the sideboard and began breaking down the lumber. I also finally organized my hardware thanks to my sons dumping it all onto the floor. More shop organization progress!

First commission, first time milling my own lumber!!! I learned how stressful it is to do commission with this one. Material is black walnut, with some crotch figure in the drawer fronts with custom fabricated legs made out of aluminum. Carcass is mitered, panel construction. Last time I make that mistake again. Finished with arm-r-seal gloss (customers choice).

Ash Live Edge Bench by Tim
I wanted to share with you a project that I recently finished up. It is a live edge ash bench made from the first log that I ever milled with my chainsaw mill. I used casting epoxy to stabilize any voids and cracks except for a larger crack on one end that I used two black walnut (also from a log I milled) dovetail keys. I joined one leg with some large hand cut dovetails, and the other leg I did a double mortise and tenon joint that I cut with a router. It was my first time trying dovetail keys, my first time making a live edge piece, my first time making dovetails so large and my first time doing mortise and tenon joinery with a router. I believe it is my fourth attempt at dovetails overall.
I flattened the slab with a router sled and flattened the legs with a hand plane. The piece is finished with multiple coats of polyurethane.
I decided to make this piece mostly just so I could try some new things, and I am very happy with how it came out.
Bed by Matt
It is the first king bed I made. The walnut sat in a barn for about 30 years. The rails are live edge and it is finished the arm-r-seal. The panels are floating with mortise and tenon joinery.
